SFU women lose GPAC final
Guard Kia van Laare of New Westminster scored eight points as the Simon Fraser University Clan women’s basketball team defeated the Seattle Pacific Falcons 66-55 in the semifinals of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship Friday in Lacey, Wash.
But in next night’s final she didn’t manage to notch any points in 10 minutes of play as SFU fell 60-40 to the Western Washington University Vikings from Bellingham, Wash.
The Clan, however, still get to advance to the NCAA national tournament where they will face another GNAC squad, Northwest Nazarene Crusaders of Nampa, Idaho in the first round on Friday. The west regional tournament will be held in Bellingham.
