* UPDATE: We now know the Saints will take on Simon Fraser University in the league championship, after SFU defeated Thompson Rivers University earlier tonight but the venue remains unknown at this point and is based on games of the KIJHL Castlegar Rebels.

_____

The Selkirk Saints outscored the visiting University of Victoria men's BCIHL hockey team 4-1 Saturday, March 9, 2013 in Castlegar, sending them on to the league championship series which begins Mar. 15.

As the KIJHL Rebels are also on a playoff run, the venue for game one of that series has yet to be decided.

Selkirk Saints goaltender Alex Sirard put on a clinic in the two games against UVic, backed by strong offence from key players. Sirard went four periods of shutout hockey until being beaten late in the second.

Selkirk goal scorers were Jackson Garrett, Jordan Wood (2) and Cody Fidgett.

The Vikes goal came from Brad Robinson late in the second period on a power play.
