Pilots fall in double-OT, Kodiaks take series lead
Brandon Dolby's double-overtime goal lifted the Aldergrove Kodiaks to a dramatic 5-4 playoff win over the Abbotsford Pilots at MSA Arena on Friday evening.
The Pilots built a 3-1 lead in the second period, only to watch the Kodiaks battle back to tie it 4-4.
The first OT period settled nothing, but Dolby jammed the puck past Pilots goalie Aaron Oakley on a goalmouth scramble at 7:58 of the second extra session.
The victory gave Aldergrove a 2-1 lead in the Pacific Junior Hockey League semifinal series. Abbotsford had won the opener 8-1 on Tuesday, and the Kodiaks bounced back for a 4-2 win on Wednesday. Game 4 goes Sunday at 8:30 p.m. at the Mission Leisure Centre.
Ryan Parmar, Austin Edwards, Luke Venema and Dakota Schipper scored the Pilots' goals on Friday, while Oakley made 38 saves.
