Bye, bye winter — golf is back in Kamloops
It may have snowed yet again this week in the upper reaches of Kamloops, but the golf season has indeed begun.
The Dunes at Kamloops and Rivershore Golf Links have opened for the season, while Mount Paul Golf Course was packed last weekend as golfers took advantage of warm weather to dust off the clubs.
Kamloops Golf and Country Club and Eaglepoint Golf Course are hoping to open on the weekend of March 15,16 and 17, while Tobiano is eyeing March 27 as the day balls are driven from the tee for the first time in 2013.
Bill Bilton Jr., general manager at The Dunes, said the opening is about 10 days earlier than normal.
"And we are definitely not on winter greens," he said.
"We treated the course last fall for the winter and the entire course is in fantastic shape. And the greens are truly green for the spring."
