Lady Royals, Pipers advance at AAA girls' basketball championships
Cross-town rivals Handsworth and Argyle are one bracket closer to yet another hoop showdown this season.
On Wednesday, both teams advanced at the BC AAA High School Girls’ Basketball Championship.
In the opening round, Argyle defeated Surrey's Fleetwood Park 69-45 and Handsworth beat MEI 61-43.
Today, the Pipers tip-off against Brookswood at 7 p.m. At 8:45 pm., the Royals take on Maple Ridge.
If both North Shore teams win, it will set up a final four showdown with a berth in the championship on the line.
This year, in regular season and tournament play the two teams met five times, with Handsworth taking a 3-2 edge in the series.
