Next year's B.C. mixed curling championships awarded to Duncan
Duncan Curling Club has been awarded the 2014 Williams Moving and Storage B.C. mixed curling championship.
The club last hosted a provincial championship in 2007.
"I have no doubt we're going to host a successful event,'' said Brent Dellebuur, one of the club's directors. "We have done it twice before. As long as you dot the i's and cross the t's, then everything will go smoothly.''
The club recently sold its building to the Municipality of North Cowichan, allowing it to get back on a more solid financial footing. As a condition of the sale, the building was renamed the Glen Harper Curling Centre in honour of the local curling legend.
Harper represented B.C. in national men's tournaments in 1960 and 1963, and national mixed championships in 1966 and 1970.
Curl B.C.'s Scott Braley is delighted to have Duncan hosting the B.C. mixed championships next year. "Duncan has a vibrant curling community, and I know they will host a successful event.''
