Rockets doubled up by Kamloops to open home and home set

The Kamloops Blazers defeated the Kelowna Rockes 4-2 on Friday night in Kamloops, opening the first of a two game weekend set between the two Western Hockey League rivals.

Dylen McKinlay had his 20th goal of the season for the Rockets while Henrik Nyberg also scored in a losing cause for Kelowna.

Brendan Ranford had a goal and two assists to lead the Blazers to the victory.

The win moves the Blazers to within five points of Kelowna in the race for the WHL BC Division title.

It was the first of five games between the two teams over the final five weekends of play in the regular season.

Kelowna and Kamloops play again Saturday night in Kelowna.
