SHSS off to strong start at home tournament
The Stanley Humphries Secondary Rockers got off to a good start in their home tournament on Friday. SHSS got off to a good start and cruised to a 60-17 win over Rossland. Rachael teBulte earned player of the game honours with 18 points and 16 rebounds.
"I think we played very good," said teBulte. "We worked on our fast break and our defence was good. We definitely played better than the last time we played them."
SHSS was able to work the ball around and get good shots against the Rossland 2-3 zone.
"Our shots were pretty good," said teBulte. "It was some of our best shooting of the year. We were trying to shoot more from the outside as well against the zone."
The Rockers second game of the tournament is tonight (Friday) at 6 p.m. at the school against Osoyoos Secondary. The South Okanagan school is a darkhorse in the six team tournament as the only participant from outside the West Kootenay/Boundary area.
Games go all day today at SHSS with the last one starting at 7:30 p.m. Semi-finals go at 8:30 and 10 a.m. on Saturday. The final runs at 1 p.m. and pits the two semi-final winners.
