UBCO drops opening game in CIS best of three women's volleyball playoff
The UBC Okanagan women's volleyball team looked to have things nicely in hand on Thursday night in the first ever CIS playoff game at the UBC Okanagan campus gymnasium.
Leading two sets to one and 20-14 in the fourth game, the Heat failed to close out Mount Royal College, allowing them to come back and win the fourth set as well as the fifth and deciding set for a 1-0 series lead over UBCO.
Mount Royal outscored UBCO 11-1 to win the fourth set 25-21 before taking the fifth and deciding set 15-13.
Game two in the best of three series is tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the UBCO gymnasium while a potential third and deciding match would be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at UBCO.
The UBCO women are the first ever UBCO sports program to host a CIS playoff. The winner of this quarterfinal match will advance to the CIS women's volleyball final four at UBC.
