Holyfield attends anti-bullying fundraiser
First, Josh Lauriente showed he was the real deal in the ring. After that, he met the Real Deal himself.
Lauriente, a South Surrey boxer, competed in his fourth fight last week at Vancouver’s Fraserview Hall, as part of an anti-bullying fundraiser in honour of Amanda Todd.
The guest of honour at the event was boxing legend Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield, who has in recent years become an anti-bullying advocate.
After Lauriente’s bout, the 50-year-old Holyfield joined him in the ring.
Lauriente is now preparing to represent B.C. at the Tacoma Golden Gloves Tournament, set for Feb. 15-17. The event will feature 200 of the Pacific Northwest’s top young boxers.
