Spence sisters have success in Quebec
Speed-skating sisters Tori and Sara Spence of the River City Racers were in action at the Gatean Boucher Oval in Quebec City over the weekend.
Tori, competing in the Canada Cup 3 portion of the competition, placed first in the 3,000m with a time of 4:47.19.
She was 11th in the 500m (44.51) and eighth in the 1000m (1:28.57).
Sara qualified to compete in the junior national long-track championships and came third overall in a field of 24 junior female skaters from across the country.
She came fourth in both the 1000m and 1,500m events with times of 1:33.48 and 2:23.25, respectively.
Sara finished fifth in the 3,000m event with a time of 5:09.88 and sixth in the 500m with a time of 44.87.
Weather conditions were cold and windy with an average temperature of about - 20C.
