Portland sends Kamloops packing
A two-goal cushion was not enough to see the Kamloops Blazers through to victory in Portland on Wednesday, Jan. 30.
Ty Rattie scored the first of five unanswered Winterhawk goals as they went on to down the Blazers 5-2 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Dylan Willick opened the scoring for Kamloops at 14:16 of the first frame and Colin Smith made it 2-0 Blazers at 16:24.
After Rattie replied in the second period, Joe Mahon, Nicolas Petan, Taylor Peters and Brendan Leipsic added singles to sink the visitors.
Mac Carruth made 22 saves in the win, while Cheveldave stopped 32 pucks and took the loss.
Next up for the Blazers are the Spokane Chiefs on Friday, Feb. 1, at Interior Savings Centre.
Puck-dop is slated for 7 p.m.
