Rockets ring up home ice record
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Vancouver Giants 5-3 on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, setting a new Kelowna club record for consecutive home ice wins with their 19th straight home-ice win.
Carter Rigby led the offense with a hat trick while MacKenzie Johnston and Jesse Lees also scored for the Rockets, who improved to 34-10-2-1 on the season, first place in the WHL BC Division.
The 19 straight home wins is a Kelowna record, surpassing the streak set by the 2002-03 Kelowna Rockets. Overall the Rockets franchise record is 24, set by the 1992-93 Tacoma Rockets.
Jordon Cooke earned the win in net, his 18th straight win, also a Kelowna Rockets record.
The Rockets are back in action next Thursday at home against the Seattle Thunderbirds.
