Peewee girls doubled by Grizzlies

Campbell River Peewee Hurricanes fell 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at Westhills Arena to the Juan de Fuca Grizzlies.

The Hurricanes opened the scoring with a power play goal from Jennifer Hampton at 13 minute mark of the first period. Lauren Martynyk assisted.

The Grizzlies countered with a power play goal of their own to tie it up.

In the second frame, the Grizzlies added three more goals to stretch their lead to 4-1.

In the third period, Hampton picked up her second power play goal.

The unassisted marker came midway through the period, but that proved to be all the scoring for the local girls.

The Hurricanes sit with four wins and five losses. Their next game is against the Victoria Ice Hawks on Jan. 20, 1:15 p.m., at Strathcona Gardens.
