Racers win at Burnaby Velodrome

The Local Ride Racing Team ended 2012 with victories on Dec. 27-30, at the Superior Glass four-day track cycling competition, held at the Burnaby Velodrome.
The Maple Ridge-based team’s youngster Maggie Coles-Lyster (Maple Ridge), 13, won the youth women’s omnium and contested the senior women’s Madison, placing fourth.
Local Ride Racing’s elite women, Meghan Grant (Ladner) and Melanie Von Stetten (Langley) placed first and third in the overall omnium competition, respectively. They finished fifth in the Madison.
This season the team will have a stronger youth and development focus. Recent additions on the women’s development side include sisters Megan and Kelsey MacDonald of Pitt Meadows.
