JC's journey continues
JC Lipon and Team Canada finished pool play today (Dec. 31) at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Ufa, Russia.
The Canadians downed the host Russians 4-1 and booked a spot in the semifinal round.
The United States is playing the Czech Republic in a quarter-final matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 2, with the winner set to square off with Canada on Thursday, Jan. 3.
Canada posted a 4-0 record in round-robin play.
Lipon, a right-winger with the Kamloops Blazers, was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct for a first-period hit on a Slovakian player on Friday, Dec. 28.
He was suspended one game by the International Ice Hockey Federation and missed Canada's showdown with the United States on Sunday, Dec. 30.
