Nanaimo and Ahousaht dominate Samuel fam hoops tourney

Ahousaht and Nanaimo clashed in the finals of the boys and girls divisions at the Samuel family junior hoops tournament in Port Alberni.

Playing before a packed crowd at the Alberni Athletic Hall on Sunday, Ahousaht defeated the Nanaimo Sons 60-42 to win first place in the boy's division.

Ahousaht's Gabe Campbell scored 24 points in the game and won tournament MVP honours. Nanaimo's Josh Seward scored 18 points in the game.

The Nanaimo Storm meanwhile beat the 2012 Junior All Native champions Ahousaht Mystic Suns 45-34 to win the girls division title.

The Storm's Francine Charleson scored 16 points in the game. Her teammate Amber John took MVP honours.
