Midgets thump T-birds
Oceanside’s Midget Rep Generals are starting to gel, and that spelled trouble for the Sooke Thunderbirds at ‘the Place Sunday as the home team turned in a dominating 8-1 win in exhibition action.
“The team has definitely come together,” confirmed Oceanside’s head ref Chriss Herr, who worked the game, adding, “there’s a lot of good players on that team and it’s starting to show in the scoring.”
Oceanside head coach Darren Freeman was happy with the win and with the way his team played.
“It was a really good puck movement today,” he said. “Really happy with the kids.”
Jarrett Weme led the charge with a hat trick, Justin Dielman and Jordon Olsen potted a pair each, and Duncan Coombs chipped in with a single.
Matt Hyckaway was in net for the win.
Oceanside is currently 3-3-1 in their five-team, Tier 2 division (Sooke competes in Tier 3) and approaching the halfway point of their regular season and the lead-up to the Island’s and the B.C. championships.
GAME O.N: The Midet Rep Generals have two league games on the road this weekend as they travel to Juan de Fuca on Saturday and Campbell River Sunday.
