Blades hand Blazers second-consecutive home loss

For the second time in as many games, the Kamloops Blazers were downed on home ice by a WHL East Division squad.

The Saskatoon Blades scored three third-period goals to erase a 2-0 Blazers' lead and win at Interior Savings Centre on Friday, Nov. 23.

The Regina Pats edged Kamloops 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Nathan Burns wired one past Cole Cheveldave with 1:01 to play in the third period to sink Kamloops on Friday.

Matej Stransky and Logan Harland scored to cue the Blades' comeback.

The Blazers looked to be in cruise control heading into the final frame, thanks to goals from Colin Smith and Chase Souto.

Saskatoon caught fire in the third, while the Blazers were unable to beat Andrey Makarov, the stalwart Russian netminder who turned away 41 Kamloops shots in victory.

Cheveldave allowed three goals on seven shots in the third stanza.

Kamloops outshot Saskatoon 43-22.

Next up for the Blazers are the Vancouver Giants on Saturday, Nov. 24, at ISC.

Puck-drop is slated for 7 p.m.
