Ice Hawks blank Wolf Pack 3-0

Hawks10_WEB.jpg

The Delta Ice Hawks scored two goals a minute apart in the first period last night, but they would only need one as they went on to shutout the team from North Vancouver.

Grange Gordon scored his second goal of the season just over midway through the first period, and Marc Letourneau picked up his sixth a minute and five seconds later to take an early 2-0 lead.

The North Van Wolf Pack swarmed in the second, however, and despite another goal from Letourneau in the second period, the momentum clearly swung to the visiting team for much of the period.

The third period was hotly contested, with both goaltenders coming up with big saves, as Delta's defense shutdown any and all attacks by North Van forwards.

Goaltender Alexander Ahnert, appearing in his third game for the Ice Hawks, picked up his third win and his first shutout of the season.

Delta moves to 15-2-1 on the season, six points ahead of second place Richmond in the Tom Shaw Conference, who they will play in RIchmond on Thursday (Nov. 8) for an opportunity to put more distance between them.
