Top performances by the Winskill Dolphins are making waves in the pool at the provincial and national levels.
The Tsawwassen swim club placed more swimmers on this year’s Team BC squad than any other club in the province.
An impressive eight Winskill swimmers made the team chosen for posting the fastest times in B.C. for their respective events.
Morgan Mackenzie, 14, 13-year-olds Noemie Thomas, Meghan Kwiatkowski, Vito Zou, Luke Reilly, and Mckenzie Summers, plus 15-year-olds Micaela Kwiatkowski, and Karyn Jewell join the B.C. team.
As newly minted all-stars, these young swimmers will attend elite provincial camps in Saanich and tour Canada and the U.S. during the coming months, representing British Columbia and Tsawwassen at such renowned competitions as the Pacific Coast All-Star Meet in Los Angeles and the B.C.-Alberta Duel Meet in Edmonton.
On the national scene, a total of four Dolphins have been selected to the Canadian Junior National Team.
Named to the team are Mackenzie, Thomas, Kwiatkowski and Summers. Each earned their spots on the Canadian team with top performances at the Age-Group National Championships in Montreal this past July.
Mackenzie’s dual Championship titles in 100 m and 200 m butterfly, a B.C. record in the 200 m, made her an shoe-in for the team.
Thomas broke the Canadian record in 100 m butterfly and won triple silver in Montreal to clinch her spot, while Kwiatkowski sprinted her way onto the team as the reigning Provincial Champion in 50 m freestyle and a finalist at the British Age-Group Nationals in Sheffield, U.K.
Only three teams in the country boast more swimmers on the National Team than Winskill.
