Giants' Kane selected fourth in NHL draft
Vancouver Giants' prospect goes fourth overall in Friday's National Hockey League entry draft.

As projected, Vancouver Giants' forward Evander Kane was selected fourth overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in the NHL's entry draft held in Montreal Friday afternoon (June 26).
Kane, a native of Vancouver, was the first player from the WHL to be chosen.
The 6'1", 176 pound, 17-year-old calls South Delta home during the hockey season, where the Giants train.
Last season, Kane's third with the Giants, he racked up 96 points (48 goals and 48 assists) in 61 games and an impressive plus/minus rating of 51.
He was also part of Canada's team which won the gold medal at the World Junior Championships.
The season before last Kane registered 41 points (24 goals and 17 assists) in 65 games.
Going into the draft, NHL central scouting had projected Kane to be selected fourth.
The first pick went to the New York Islanders who selected forward John Tavares who plays for London in the Ontario Hockey League.
