LETTER—Golf course discourse
Congratulations Mr. Kenji Nose on your world class golf course (Dream builder, Oct. 23, 2009 South Delta Leader). You have made a great contribution with your philosophy and style at the said golf course.
The only problem we have living so close to golf course is the noise that can start before 6 a.m. and can go until 2 p.m.
Caused by the Power Vac that picks up the leaves and cut grass. A necessary part to maintain a good golf course. It does not have to be such a noisy machine. There are much quieter ones, perhaps more expensive.
People have moved from Wallace Ave. due to the noise.
Our complaints have fallen on deaf ears. Complaints by phone and in person.
Two years ago we were promised that the powers to be were looking into obtaining a quieter machine. At that time the news media was not allowed to take photos of the machine.
To our discomfort nothing has changed. The blue herons are not fond of the noise either. There are fewer nests.
I am sure it will, if it hasn’t already, affect real estate in this area in a negative way.
The noise in this area, close to the border, is greater than the noise at Roberts Bank, the ferry terminal, or the Boundary Bay airport.
People I have talked to are amazed the noise comes from the golf course. They have in the past thought it to be Roberts Bank Terminal.
If at all possible Mr. Nose, could you look into this problem.
Don Sabo,
Delta
