For Pam Keith with Dueck GM, supporting Operation Red Nose was an obvious choice.

“We’re in the automotive industry, and for us safe driving is a priority,” says Keith.

Richmond-based Dueck has now sponsored the volunteer-based anti-drinking and driving program for about four seasons.

As a Tsawwassen resident, Keith says she sees the wonderful impact of the program, which operates in Delta and Richmond.

Volunteer teams will come to your event and drive you and your vehicle home between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. during the last weekend of November and Fridays and Saturdays in December, including New Year's eve. Call the hotline (604-943-0460) for a safe ride home—all donations are given to the Delta Gymnastics Society.

The South Delta Leader is featuring five liquor-free recipes to enjoy during the holiday season, shared by supporters of Operation Red Nose. This is the second in the series.

Keith says this recipe for a cranberry Christmas punch came from a friend who is a cranberry farmer.

“I always get fresh (local) cranberries in the summer and freeze them for Christmas,” says Keith.

Ingredients

1 large bottle cranberry juice

½ litre club soda

2 cans ginger ale

1 cup orange juice

1 cup frozen cranberries

Directions

Blend together.

Serve in a punch bowl with crushed ice.

Float 1 cup frozen cranberries on top.
