Sisters Shannan and Jennifer O’Brien plan to introduce the community to local artists and encourage residents to shop local for their Christmas gifts through a new Saturday market.

The duo own Sublime Art Supplies and Gallery, and are using their experience hosting home-based Christmas craft fairs to organize their first Christmas Craft Fair and Artisan Market at the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall.

The Saturday market will take place during the month of November (Nov. 7, 14, 21 and 28, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.), and will feature about 30 artisans each weekend.

Jennifer O’Brien says the aim of the market is to get residents to stay in town and shop at their local mall, as well as support artists and crafters who will be selling everything from handmade wooden tree ornaments, art cards, glass work and paintings, to honey, preserves, reusable shopping bags and baked goods.

The owners of Sublime are artists themselves, starting the business two years ago as an outlet for their own work.

Today they also offer classes to children—mixed media so it’s hands on and a little bit messy—as well as adults. To learn more about the store, the classes, or the market, contact Sublime at 604-943-0117 or visit sublimeartsuppliesandgallery.ca.
