Kelly Shimizu of the Richmond Curling Club was Tuesday awarded the 2009 Junior Female Athlete of the Year by Curl BC.

Kelly skipped her team of Kayte Gyles, Janelle Sakamoto and Julianna Tsang to win the B.C. Junior Curling Championships and then went on to tie for fifth in Canada at the M&M Meatshops Junior Curling Championships.
