Richmond's top under-15 girls' soccer team prepared for the 2009 season opener Saturday against Vancouver by playing six games in four days at the Coquitlam Labour Day tournament.

In the process, the Red Hot Selects went undefeated before losing in penalty kicks in the championship match. Amrit Berar was selected the top player.

"It was an excellent weekend of soccer for the team," said coach Clive Clarke. "We showed, skill intensity and determination. I'm looking forward to a great year with a close-knit, talented team."
