Richmond's Eric Jackson and his teammates in the Canadian Junior coxed four have reached the final of the World Junior Rowing Championships in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France.

Joined by Alexander Thorlakson of Kelowna B.C., Pryce Waites of Lake Oswego, Oregon, and Sean Whitehall (cox) of Wainfleet, Ont., the crew advanced directly to the finals after today's heat.

Canada's time of six minutes 24.77 seconds was nearly one second ahead of the U.S. and more than three seconds ahead of New Zealand.

But Canada appears to have its work cut out for it in the finals, after Germany won the other heat in a time that was more than five seconds faster than the Canadians.
