On behalf of Richmond Ringette we would like to send out our thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Richmond Ice Centre for their amazing help in getting our 15th annual West Coast Classic Tournament back on track after an eagle caused a four-hour power outage at the rink during our 60-team tournament on Jan. 9.
With the help of Will Kump and his staff we were able to reschedule all missed/delayed games on Saturday, keeping the tournaments time line on track.
We would also like to thank all of the other user groups that lost their ice to us that day. Your understanding in this matter was greatly appreciated by the 800 athletes and their families that came from all over BC as well as teams from Edmonton.
I would also like to thank all of the Richmond Ringette volunteers that worked so hard to keep everything running smoothly. Without your dedication to our sport we would never have made it through the day. Also to all of the athletes and their families and coaches, your patience was greatly appreciated as we sorted out the schedule and we hope to see you all again next year.
We are sorry to hear that the eagle did not survive.
