Nothing was left after a building under construction in East Richmond was struck by fire late Saturday afternoon.

Richmond Fire-Rescue’s Kirby Graeme said the building, measuring just a couple of hundred square feet and located on the 18000 block of River Road, may have been set ablaze by ashes from a camp fire that was located nearby.

The fire occurred around 5:30 p.m., and the building wasn’t hooked up to electricity or gas, Graeme said.

With so little left of the structure, situated a few hundred feet from the main road, the cause of the fire may never be known.
