Home invaders have eye for art

The young men responsible for a brazen Monday afternoon home invasion on the 5000 block of Lackner Crescent targetted several pieces of Chinese artwork.

Richmond RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Pound said that Richmond Mounties were called after four young Asian men, ages 25 to 30, forced their way into the residence after the victim, in his late 60s, opened the door.

All of the suspects were about five feet six inches tall, had medium builds, and were wearing white t-shirts.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

Pound said investigators believe this was an isolated and targetted robbery.

The value of the Chinese artwork, depicting tigers in various poses, hasn't yet been determined, Pound said.

The victim's grey Volvo S40 was also stolen.

The victim is not known to police.

Richmond RCMP is urging members of the public to contact them, at 604-278-1212, if they see this artwork or have any information regarding the robbery. Those wishing to stay anonymous can call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
