WEB UPDATE: Injured pedestrian released from hospital

A pedestrian in his late teens was released from hospital a day after being hit by a vehicle last Tuesday on Railway Avenue in Richmond.

Police have not named the man, who was rushed to hospital with suspected head injuries. Richmond RCMP Cpl. Rob Vermeulen said the man was kept overnight, but tests proved negative and he was released from hospital.

The victim is not a high school student, but Vermeulen warned that everyone should be cautious during this time of increased vehicle traffic at the start of the school year.

"It's a good reminder that at the start of the school year there's all kinds of people on the roads. Just remember to be careful."

While drivers should be vigilant while on the road, pedestrians should always look both ways before crossing the street, and only cross at marked crosswalks, if not at intersections, he said.
