All city parks and trails are again open after officials closed some areas due to tinder-dry conditions.

Shell Road Trail and the Richmond Nature Park's interior trails and east bog forest are again open to the public.

Temperature has cooled in Richmond since a mid-summer heat wave gripped the region, but forecasters are calling for five days of hot and sunny weather.

Meanwhile, park summer programs continue. On Saturday between 7:30 and 9 p.m., Terra Nova Rural Park will host a special program called Night Watch. Recommended for children ages six and up, accompanied by an adult, participants are encourages to bring flashlights to spot bats, owls and other night creatures. The park is located at 2431 Westminster Hwy., and cost is $4. Call 604-276-4300 to register.
