It was an up and down week for the winner of the B.C. Poker Championships at River Rock Casino Resort on the weekend.

On Sunday night, Cloverdale's Sophon Sek beat out more than 680 players to win the B.C. Poker Championships, walking away with the grand prize of $364,364.

But by Tuesday, Sek's week took a dark turn, as he was arrested and is facing several charges including manslaughter in the Surrey Six shooting in October of 2007.

The 30-year-old's arrest came eight months after the arrest of three others in the death of six people in a Surrey high-rise.

Sek appeared in Surrey provincial court on Tuesday, and is next scheduled to return on Nov. 30.

Cpl. Dale Carr, of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said other charges and/or arrests may be made in the case.

Already charged are James Kyle Bacon, Matthew James Johnston and Cody Rae Haevischer.

Dennis Richard Karbovanec has already pled guilty to three counts of second-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.

Killed were: Ed Schellenberg, Cory Lal, Michael Lal, Edward Narong, Ryan Bartolomeo and Christoper Mohan.
