Trees along ferry lineup corridor sequester emissions
Smog arising from cars on Bowen Trunk Road during ferry marshalling.

Further to the concerns regarding dispensing with trees at BICS, I would like to add one more very good reason to regret this decision.
From a vantage point on my deck at Collins Farm I can observe, under certain atmospheric conditions, a line of smog arising from Bowen Trunk Road. I first noticed this in the 1990s and was puzzled as to its origin because I had not noticed it earlier. I finally awakened to the fact that it is most likely the output from cars and trucks going to and from the ferry. Drifting cloud-like formations occur after ferry arrivals and departures. Because they drift off into the atmosphere and are funneled up the road to BICS and beyond, I believe that it is important to leave those trees not only for their shade, but also as a possible carbon sink to protect anyone playing in the fields at BICS.
