LETTER: Gladys needs some love

I have been travelling down Gladys Avenue several times a week for 10 years. During that time the City of Abbotsford has re-paved half of Gladys.

The section from the Abbotsford News to the new MCC store was paved on one side of the line only. Sadly, the side of the road closest to the railroad tracks has not been paved. The other half of the road is quite bumpy and patched in several places.

I hope the city public works will take on the project of stripping off the old pavement which is uneven possibly due to settling. The road bed needs to be levelled and paved over to match the paving on the other half of the road. I hope that with all the new development along this stretch of Gladys that the City of Abbotsford would upgrade the road for everyone’s benefit.

Roberts Avenue is another road that was in a sad state of repair for many years. It was basically a one-lane alley until the city upgraded the road to two lanes with completely new pavement. If the city can do a marvelous job of upgrading a minor road like Roberts Avenue, then I think they can also upgrade a busy road like Gladys Avenue.
