Fraser should talk to all taxpayers

The recent letter by Alberni-Pacific MLA Scott Fraser (‘Talk to a teacher,’ The NEWS, July 1) needs to be answered.

Fraser’s letter says that a Supreme Court ruling found this government “guilty” and this government did not negotiate in good faith. I get that. He went on to write that during his visit to three local schools he heard first-hand teachers’ genuine concerns.

Fraser is a true politician. He should be reminded that as a politician he should talk to all regular — retired and working, old and young — Joe Taxpayers and not only part of the electorate that votes for him. He should have the political courage to ask all taxpayers who will be affected by whatever settlement may be reached, and work with the government to minimize such impact.
