Welcoming Daddy

Re: Iconic sculpture taking shape (NewsLeader, May 28)

The Wait for Me, Daddy photo is evocative. After moving to New Westminster in 2007, I was delighted to learn it had been taken at the foot of Eighth Street.

When I saw that there would be another artistic rendition commissioned, I hoped it would be two-dimensional, to honour (perhaps more) the photographer Claude Dettloff of The Province and his medium.

I have heard that some of our citizens do not like to be reminded of wars. Unfortunate.
