Shop local - again

I’ve read a lot of different view points lately about business in Sidney and the point keeps getting missed. The businesses need a place to rent and do business. The landlords need renters to keep their business open and the town needs all those tax dollars. It’s a simpatico relationship but there needs to be balance. If any one facet becomes unbalanced, the whole relationship crumbles. And you end up with a ghost town.

What could Sidney feasibly do? We could have the town lower businesses taxes. We could have the landlords actually charge a fair rate. What can we do? We all can start shopping again. If residents spent one per cent more per month in Sidney, we could save Sidney.

Stop driving away to shop somewhere else. In the end, you’ll have spent more than if you’d made the five-minute trip up to Sidney.
