Find graffiti solution, don’t whine
To the Editor,
Re: Coulson warns of uptown exit over graffiti, April 17.
Since moving to Port Alberni last fall, I have been constantly astounded by the bickering and complaining I read about in the local papers. Seems everyone has an axe to grind and wants someone else to fix it.
Heads up, folks: if you can’t suggest a solution, stop griping and go find one.
This is a wonderful, friendly little city where you still have neighbours, your kids can play outdoors safely and people smile at each other on the street. Count your blessings.
For the past week I’ve been reading the griping about graffiti. Once again, instead of passing the buck, why not look for a solution?
Got a computer? Google anti-graffiti paint. Companies like SEI Industrial Chemicals make finishes using nanotechnology that prevent graffiti from adhering to surfaces—graffiti comes off with a low pressure hose.
Since the former Zellers building surface could do with a serious cleaning/refinishing anyway, perhaps Mr. Coulson should consider doing so in the process of renovating. It will make for a more attractive building and perhaps will gain him a more upscale tenant and higher rent.
