Men need help too

A new approach to mental health is long overdue, including health care for men.

Too many men are falling through the cracks and end up homeless, alone and in need.

Where can he get help? If there was a men’s health center, staffed by male counsellors to provide medical and emotional support. All too often, men receive the blame and guilt, but nothing else.

Where can he go? We have youth centres, women’s centres, seniors centres and pet centres. But no health centres for men to come and ask for help, most importantly for domestic violence issues.

Give him a chance to stop the violence, before it starts. Because by then it could be too late. The best way to get through the tense moments is to be coached by somebody who has been there already.

More than 80% of all suicides in Canada are men.

The silent crisis continues...
