Some sympathy for the cyclist

Re: Judge orders cyclist to pay $226K (NewsLeader, Feb. 26)

I feel for the poor fellow who lost control of his bike.

My opinion is that we are not responsible for one’s career because of his lack of English. We welcome so many people with open arms into our country. Mr. Jang has been here for 30 years. Lots of time to learn our language. It is also for free.

I don’t understand. Why is this judge making someone pay this much for this accident? People plow down and kill people all the time. Most of them walk away. This person is getting money because he refuses to learn our culture and language. How discriminating.

I do not feel the man on his bike is protected.

In order for Mr. Jang to get this nice retiring sum, he should have to learn our language.
