Say no to fracking and LNG
If five LNG plants go ahead as BC plans, they would release up to 63 million tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere each year. This is more than the current emissions from the Alberta tar sands and equal to the entire amount of GHGs produced in BC in 2010.
Increased fracking in the northeast to supply these plants, would leave the last stretches of genuine wilderness bleeding methane and lethal sour gas.
Neither these points nor the effect of toxins, radioactive materials and possible earthquakes caused by the fracking process has been mentioned by the government.
Isn’t it time to stand up and say no to fracking and LNG?
