Strengthening industry supports small businesses
Small businesses are the backbone of B.C.’s economy and they employ the vast majority of B.C.’s private sector workers.
But in order for small businesses to thrive, the major industry sectors they serve also need to thrive.
For that reason, our next government must support and encourage not only small business, and the small businesspeople and entrepreneurs who run these businesses, but also the major industry sectors that these small businesses depend on; because, as key industry sectors grow and prosper, so do the province’s small businesses.
As we all know, small businesses are still reeling from the lingering effects of the recession and they are teetering on the edge of optimism. The smallest change in B.C.’s economic prospects could turn the tide and send them back to being risk adverse and cause them to retract out of caution rather than expand.
As British Columbians, it is therefore up to us to make decisions that will support the province’s major industries such as mining exploration; because, when the province’s major industry sectors thrive, so do the province’s small businesses and the people they employ.
