Signs not the answer to uptown woes
To the Editor,
It’s highly questionable whether new signs directing people to the “Potemkin Village” surrounding the Argyle Street and the Third Avenue areas will attract any more people than the usual suspects.
It would be my pleasure to give any interested person a tour of the social service agencies located there, the vacant buildings such as the former post office, soon-to-be-vacated Zellers, the Brick, former Home Hardware site and many others. Not to mention the old, derelict premises ready to fall down, and the several parcels of vacant land waiting decades for uplifting new development.
And congratulations to successive city councils for fostering and encouraging the shift of businesses from South Port to North Port.
Indeed a stroke of genius.

Port Alberni
