One dollar an hour is a reasonable amount to charge for downtown core parking.
As a percentage increase, it is quite the hike, but you can't split a quarter in half. What about the stores surrounding the core with ample parking for their customers?
Will this increase lead to full-time parking attendants armed with chalk?
Will I be able to find a spot at the recreation complex for my afternoon swim?
Will I explore the core at my leisure or will it become absolute destination shopping only?
I can only hope the good people of Vernon suck it up and throw some loonies into the quarter stash. After all, this is 2013.
