Our planet Earth: Time to make a choice

I recently read a letter to a newspaper in which the author seemed to almost beg: “Our world has been poisoned and will ultimately die unless we use our only power, which is to come together...”

However, I pretty much see matters as a given when it comes to Earth’s future as an ecologically moderately healthy planet.

I’m convinced we will eventually find ourselves at the most crucial juncture – perhaps since the extinction level event which took out the dinosaurs – involving the quality of our existence.

Either we make a 90-degree turn in one direction, favouring economic and job growth, especially involving the natural resource and mineral sectors, or we turn 90 degrees in the opposite direction, resulting in a potential world of peace, pristine environment, no hunger and no illness and suffering.

Perhaps I’m just too cynical, but from what I’ve observed, we likely won’t turn in the correct direction.
