A local Valentine's Day gift idea
Grace, Grit and Gusto—Profiles of Remarkable Royal City Women is a book that supports our community.
Twenty-six local authors have written about nearly 40 women in our city’s history. Several of these have just received Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medals. One such recipient is 99-year-old Dorothy Beach, a dedicated environmentalist whose attendance was the highlight of the December launch of the book.
The book’s cover is a glossy pale peach, with a stylized "Royal City Rose" design—a perfect valentine. Of the modest $20 price tag, 100 per cent goes to the work of WINGS (Women in Need Gaining Strength) at Monarch Place, a local shelter for women fleeing domestic violence.
You can buy this book from Greens and Beans, the Queen’s Park Hospital gift shop, or order them from www.vivalogue.ca. More information is available at that website. The project has many generous sponsors in our city.
This book is a valentine’s gift suitable for all, for every home in New Westminster.
