Twin post - too much
Greg Deck's recent dual appointment to both Chair of CBT and Mayor of Jumbo is in conflict with CBT's own "Board Composition, Appointment, Skills and Attributes Policy" and their "Code of Conduct." See below.
My understanding is the Executive Committee made up of Kim Deane, Am Naqvi, and Laurie Page (Vice Chair) made the decision Greg's dual appointment was acceptable. Please let me know if there is any legal recourse (an appeals process) the public can take with regards to this.
Sections in question include but are not limited to:
3.1.3 Duty to Avoid Conflicts ? Directors should attempt to avoid putting themselves in a position where their personal interests or their duties to another body interfere with
their duties to CBT. Where it is not possible for a Director to avoid a conflict, the
conflict of interest will be addressed by CBT in accordance with this Code. Directors
must disclose any real or apparent conflict of interest to CBT.
4 Conflicts of Interest
4.1 In performing their duties, Directors must not put themselves in a position in which their Private Interests and those of CBT are in a real or apparent conflict of interest, and must do their utmost to avoid such a situation.
4.2 A conflict of interest exists when the Director is performing a duty to CBT and in doing so has the opportunity to further his or her Private Interest.
4.3 An apparent conflict of interest exists when a reasonably well informed person could perceive that a Director?s ability to perform a duty was or will be affected by his or her Private Interest.
I am wholeheartedly opposed to this appointment.
