Greenhouse gas question ignored
Re: Enviro-villain of 2013: natural gas?
Tom Fletcher confuses the question of Canada’s economic sovereignty in regard to gas production and sales with what should be seen as the real issue.
That is: Should we be continuing to expand the amount of greenhouse gas producing fuels at all? Canada’s economic interests will be better served over time by creating jobs in fields of energy production which will permit Tom’s children to have breathable air, among other benefits. In 20 years, or perhaps sooner, the social disruption caused by climate disturbance and ocean rise will very likely be so great as to set us back to 19th century levels of subsistence agriculture. If the survivors are lucky.
The real “alternatives” are to push current oil, gas, coal interests to use their profits to develop non-GHG energy forms. These already exist, people need to wake up to this global threat.
